Arsenal have recall clause for out-on-loan midfielder

Arsenal inserted a recall clause before loaning out midfielder Ethan Nwaneri to Borussia Dortmund this summer, according to Sky Germany.

The Englishman had a good pre-season with the Gunners, but manager Mikel Arteta could not guarantee him regular minutes in the Premier League.

As a result, the club decided to send him on loan. Dortmund emerged as the perfect fit for Nwaneri despite his reluctance to move abroad at one point.

Nwaneri had a difficult stint with Marseille in Ligue 1 earlier this year, but he was convinced to make the switch to the Bundesliga giants on loan.

It is now revealed that the Gunners agreed on a recall clause as part of the temporary switch and can break the contract at the start of the year.

They will be closely monitoring his progress over the coming months. If there are potential injuries to key players heading into 2027, the club could exercise the option of recalling their graduate.
