Alcaraz continued his impressive return to form by defeating Daniil Medvedev 6-4, 7-6(2) in the Vienna Open semifinals. The Spaniard had to withstand a strong second-set challenge from the Russian but dominated the tiebreak to seal his place in the final. He also recorded straight-sets victories over Tommy Paul, Nikoloz Basilashvili and Karen Khachanov in the earlier rounds. Alcaraz has now extended his winning streak at ATP 500 events to 25 matches and will be chasing his fourth title of the 2026 season.

De Minaur, meanwhile, produced one of the biggest wins of his season to reach his first Vienna final. The Australian defeated top seed Alexander Zverev 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(4), recovering from a difficult second set before holding his nerve in the deciding tiebreak. He had previously beaten Matteo Berrettini 7-6(4), 6-2 and Learner Tien 6-4, 6-2, while also coming from a set down against Tomas Machac in the opening round. De Minaur remains unbeaten on indoor hard courts this season, improving his record to 10-0 with the semifinal victory.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Alex de Minaur prediction

Alcaraz’s ability to dictate rallies should give him a significant advantage in this matchup. The Spaniard has looked increasingly sharp throughout the week, and his win over Medvedev was arguably his strongest performance since returning from injury. His combination of heavy forehands, changes of direction and drop shots can disrupt de Minaur’s defensive rhythm. He has also won all six of their previous meetings, including their Australian Open quarterfinal earlier this year.

De Minaur, however, is enjoying an outstanding indoor season and remains unbeaten on the surface in 2026. His comeback victory over Zverev demonstrated his ability to absorb pressure and raise his level in crucial moments. His speed and court coverage could make Alcaraz work for every point, but he will need to be more aggressive than usual and take advantage of any openings on the Spaniard’s serve. De Minaur’s demanding semifinal, which lasted two and a half hours, could also become a factor.

Alcaraz has too many attacking options for de Minaur to contain over an entire match. The Australian’s resilience should keep the contest competitive, but the Spaniard’s superior firepower and experience in big finals make him the clear favourite.

Pick: Alcaraz to win in straight sets.
