The former England international and his partner have invited people to pay for parts of their big day

Former England rugby star Danny Cipriani and his actress fiancee AnnaLynne McCord have asked their friends and family to help pay for their wedding despite having an estimated combined net worth of over £6 million.

It was revealed in April that the retired fly-half had proposed to McCord – the star of TV shows including 90210 and Nip/Tuck – at her home in Los Angeles on Christmas Day last year, having met on dating app Raya nearly a decade earlier.

They are now set to tie the knot in LA on August 22, and have asked their guests to stump up for signficant parts of their big day.

A crowdfunding page set up by the couple invites people to donate anything from $100 (£75) to $600 (£450) as a contribution to their wedding. The lower amount will go towards the pair’s marriage licence, while their wedding cake, floral arrangements and venue construction will be paid for by contributions of the higher amount.

Several other items, including reception music, beverages, catering, photography and a rehearsal dinner are also available to buy from the registry.

As The Sun reports, the total amount – not including requested cash donations — comes to $14,200 (£10,660).

On their ‘Honeyfund’ wedding website, the couple wrote: “Contribute to our journey. Help us create our dream wedding and honeymoon experience with any amount of donation.”

The Sun adds that the request has been slammed as “extremely tacky and distasteful” by a Hollywood insider, while other people have left negative comments on the couple’s wedding website.

“Cheapskates,” wrote one. “Asking others to pay for your wedding, how rotten and low is that”.

Cipriani is reported to have an estimated net worth of over £3 million, having made millions during a playing career which saw him represent England 16 times and play for Wasps, Sale Sharks, Gloucester and Bath, as well as Melbourne Rebels in Australia.

McCord, meanwhile, is also believed to be worth around £3 million, having also starred in several feature films and modelled before pursuing a career in acting.

Before rekindling his relationship with McCord, Cipriani married neuroscience practitioner Victoria Rose in 2021 before walking out on her two years later. He also previously dated model Kelly Brook and late TV presenter Caroline Flack.

Speaking about the moment the former rugby star proposed, McCord told People: “I cried for 10 minutes straight. At some point, I realised I had to answer.

“I said, ‘Yes, but I can’t even speak,’ and he replied, ‘That’s okay, it’s actually a good sign that you are quiet for once.’ Then, we’re all laughing.”
