A former WWE star recently detailed a depressing period in her life ahead of getting released from the Stamford-based company. The star revealed that she faced several mental and physical health issues during that period. The star in question is none other than TNA Wrestling’s Elayna Black (fka Cora Jade).
Cora signed with the WWE back in 2021 at the age of 19. She became a big name on NXT due to her association with Roxanne Perez. However, the last few years of her WWE run had her facing several issues. The star suffered an ectopic pregnancy at the start of 2023, made her return in December, and tore her ACL, MCL and Meniscus the next month. During this time, her real-life boyfriend Bron Breakker also left her and unfortunately her dog also passed away.
Thanks for the submission!
During a documentary posted by Fight Network and TNA Wrestling, Elayna Black talked about that depressing period of her life and how everything affected her all at once.
“Yeah so I feel like I kinda got hit like back to back to back. I had an ectopic pregnancy, it’s not a viable pregnancy and it’s very life threatening. I was internally bleeding, like very bad so they had to rush me into emergency surgery like right then and there. Those few months following that, I was the most depressed I’ve ever been in my life. I guess I didn’t realise postpartum depression is a very serious thing. You don’t even realise that it’ll happen to you and it will and it’s very scary and it takes a lot of support and strength to get through and thankfully I did; So, yeah, ectopic pregnancy, boyfriend leaves me, lose my knee, dog dies and then I got fired a few months later,” she said. Despite all these issues in her life, Elayna Black got back on her feet and joined TNA Wrestling earlier this year.
Former WWE star Elayna Black spoke about people mistaking her break for retirement
After getting released from WWE, Elayna Black announced a temporary hiatus from in-ring competition. However, many people speculated that she had actually retired from professional wrestling and the rumours started spreading on the internet. Speaking on the I Love Wrestling podcast, she revealed how she used these rumours to help keep her TNA debut earlier this year a surprise.
“At first it bothered me because I’m like, ‘Do you not read? As I said, I was taking a break. I didn’t say I was retiring.’ But then it got to the point kind of where I was like, when I knew I was coming to TNA and I knew I was coming back, that I kind of just started to run with it because I didn’t want anyone to know. I wanted it to be a surprise. I wanted it to be completely out of nowhere,” Black said.
Fans are excited to see more of the former WWE star in TNA Wrestling.
