Unravelling Newcastle United face a long journey south to Fulham’s Craven Cottage on Saturday as the Premier League campaign enters its 10th round of fixtures. While the hosts have shown signs of progress under their new leadership in recent outings, the visitors have struggled to find their feet under theirs, but both sides will be keen to sign off for the international break on a high.
Fulham’s barren start to the league campaign came to an end midway through last month, and they built on that momentum with back-to-back wins over newly promoted duo Hull City and Coventry City.
Thanks for the submission!
The Cottagers suffered a fresh setback when they hosted city neighbours Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup last week, losing 1-0. Returning to Premier League action last weekend, Alvaro Arbeloa’s men looked set for another slump after a tepid first-half display at Villa Park saw them trail by a goal at the break.
However, Fulham significantly upped the ante after the interval and were rewarded with an eventual 1-1 draw against Aston Villa. The result means the capital club have now gone unbeaten in three consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since December, when they began a six-game unbeaten run that stretched into January.
Positive performances and results against the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Bournemouth at the start of the season suggested Newcastle United had struck gold with the appointment of head coach Matthias Jaissle.
However, less than two months on, the German finds himself on the chopping block, with performance levels at the club deteriorating rapidly.
The Magpies head into the weekend on the back of consecutive defeats to Everton. First, they suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Toffees to crash out of the EFL Cup before losing 1-0 at St James’ Park in the league on Monday, leaving Jaissle with little time to steady the ship.

Fulham vs Newcastle United Prediction
With Ryan Sessegnon having served his three-match suspension, Fulham head into the weekend with a clean bill of health, while Newcastle United have several players sidelined through injury, with Jacob Ramsey also suspended.
Although the Magpies still boast the slightly stronger squad on paper, few of their players are currently in form to inspire confidence. As a result, we are backing the Cottagers to make the most of their home advantage and edge this encounter.
Prediction: Fulham 2-1 Newcastle United
