“I Was Begging” – WWE Rejected Former Champion’s Request

This post was originally published on this site.

WWE rejected a former Champion’s major request shortly before her release. The star revealed that she begged the company to fulfill her request during her time there. The star in question is TNA Wrestling’s newest signing Shotzi Blackheart who is a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Shotzi joined the Stamford-based company back in 2019 after spending nearly 5 years on the independent circuit. She became one of the most beloved stars on the NXT brand and had several great storylines with the likes of Bianca Belair and Ember Moon. She even captured the Tag Team titles with Ember. Blackheart moved up to the company’s main roster back in 2021.

Thanks for the submission!

After a rather underwhelming run on the main roster, Shotzi returned to NXT back in 2024. She formed an alliance with Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley during this run. She was released from the company in May last year and recently made her TNA debut at last week’s Thursday Night Impact!

During a recent interview with GOW, Shotzi revealed that she begged the people at the Entertainment Juggernaut to let her have a run in TNA when the two promotions began a working relationship. She even revealed that she had a conversation with Tommy Dreamer regarding this but wasn’t allowed to do what she wanted.

“I was kind of talking to TNA when I was still signed with WWE. When I had just gotten back from my ACL surgery, I was really hungry to get in the ring. I was begging WWE to let me have a run with TNA. I was talking to Tommy Dreamer for a little bit and he was totally down, but for some reason I wasn’t allowed to,” she said. (4:18 onwards)

Shotzi clarified the intent behind her comments about WWE and TNA Wrestling

Following her comments about wanting to have a run with TNA Wrestling while being with WWE, Shotzi clarified that she just wanted to showcase how much she wanted to work at the Nashville-based company. The clarification came after people misinterpreted her comments in a negative way.

“There was no negativity behind my comment. At the time TNA was utilizing NXT talent. I was working in NXT, but I was also being pitched to start a potential SmackDown storyline, so my understanding was that adding a third storyline would have been a lot to juggle. The intention of my comment was simply to express how much I’ve always wanted to work with TNA and my enthusiasm for making it work alongside an already full schedule,” she wrote.

Shotzi is one of the most entertaining wrestlers in the world right now. It will be interesting to see what TNA Wrestling has planned for her.
