Isiekwe available after Leicester red rescinded

  • Published

Nick Isiekwe’s red card in Saracens’ Prem victory at Leicester on Saturday has been rescinded at a disciplinary hearing.

The England forward, 28, was shown a 20-minute red card following a high tackle on Tigers full-back Freddie Steward in Sarries’ 40-38 win.

Steward provided a statement and live evidence at the hearing, in which he said he did not suspect any foul play by Isiekwe.

Steward and Isiekwe both described the head contact as “glancing”, a term that the independent panel said it “did not fully accept”, although the panel’s view was that the degree of force was “low to mid and not high”.

The outcome of the hearing means Isiekwe will be available for selection when Saracens host Sale Sharks in their second Prem fixture of the season on Sunday (15:00 BST).
