Jake Jarman became the first British male gymnast to win two individual medals in the same World Gymnastics Championships as he claimed silver in the vault final.

Jarman had won silver in the men’s floor on Saturday in Rotterdam to become Britain’s most decorated athlete in the history of the event.

He achieved a score of 14.650 in the vault final as he finished second behind Armenia’s Artur Davtyan, who took gold with 14.850.

“I’m just really happy. The aim is to land on my feet. I know that sounds simple but it really isn’t,” said 24-year-old Jarman, who has five World Championship medals overall in his career.

“I’ve had to adapt at these championships, competing all-around and then apparatus alongside the team goals, so I’ve learnt a lot.

“Today’s not quite the score I would be aiming for on vault, but, overall, when I assess where I’m at, it feels like I’ve managed the competitions really well.

“I’ve peaked at the right time. I’ve been really consistent every routine, set some PBs along the way, so it’s been a very positive World Championships for me.”

British teenager Abigail Martin finished fourth in the women’s floor final as she achieved the same score as the bronze medallist but missed out on the tie-break of the execution score.

Martin and France’s Maiana Prat both scored 13.466, but the latter had an execution score of 7.866 compared to 18-year-old Martin’s 7.666.

Gold went to 17-year-old American Claire Pease.
