Liverpool are reportedly exploring a deal for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton this summer.
The Reds are keen on landing a new midfielder as they seek to provide competition to Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Joao Gomes was the primary target for the Anfield giants, but Aston Villa have recently won the race to land his signature.
The Merseyside giants have now turned their attention to Wharton, but a deal could be difficult to pull off with the Eagles set to demand 100 million pounds.
The Reds would ideally like to sign him for around 80 million pounds. Palace are reluctant to negotiate for the Englishman for the current summer.
The London outfit are preparing for a season in the Europa League and prefer to keep Wharton for another 12 months at the least.
Wharton is likewise happy to continue at the Conference League champions and could push for a bigger challenge next term.
