Man Utd eyeing deal for River Plate goalkeeper

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing River Plate goalkeeper Santiago Beltran at the turn of the year.

The Red Devils recruited Karl Darlow as Senne Lammens‘ deputy over the summer, but the hierarchy are not fully convinced by him.

Darlow is almost 36, and he is considered a future third-choice option in the squad. The club prefer to land a young back-up soon.

Beltran has been identified as that player after a wonderful breakthrough season with River in the Argentine top-flight.

Inter Milan and United have both enquired about the player and could capitalise on his contract situation in the New Year.

The 21-year-old’s deal expires in December 2027, which could open the door for a transfer if he does not renew his contract.

River remain optimistic of negotiating fresh terms with the Argentina international, but there is no guarantee at the moment.

Beltran was previously on the radar of Aston Villa, but they are unlikely to return, having signed Zion Suzuki from Parma.
