The incident has created a stir on social media
Biarritz fly-half Kylian Jaminet picked up what some have claimed is the ‘most bizarre yellow card ever’, following a clash with referee Benoit Rousselet.
The incident, which happened eight minutes into the second half of Friday night’s D2 clash with Beziers, saw Jaminet go clattering into the visibly unimpressed official.
Rousselet went to the TMO to look at the collision, and decided Jaminet did not do enough to avoid him, and duly showed him a yellow card.
The incident predictably created a stir online, with one user on social media writing: “Is this the most bizarre yellow card EVER!?
“Thought you’d seen it all…?
“Pro D2 delivering again on a wild Friday evening! Kylian Jaminet on the receiving end of some French rugby insanity.”
Translating Rousselet’s comments, another user added: “He said the action goes to the right with no intention of going back left, so the player can and must avoid the contact.
“It’s a yellow card because the player is looking at the ball and not in front of him, so he considers it non-deliberate. Otherwise, he wanted to give a red.”
“He seems to believe, deeply, that he is the main character of the game,” another said.
However, it seems not everyone disagreed with the decision.

One onlooker wrote: “That should have been a straight red, he clearly did that on purpose.”
Biarritz went on to lose the game, with Beziers emerging with a 43-17 victory on the night.
