Olympic bronze medallist Ana Barbosu has been given a two-year ban for three whereabouts failures for anti-doping tests.

Romanian Barbosu, who won bronze in the women’s floor final at the Paris Games in 2024, was initially suspended by the International Testing Agency (ITA) in May for missing three tests between September and December 2025.

The ITA manages World Gymnastics’ anti-doping programme.

Barbosu, 20, appealed against the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas), who upheld the ruling after a hearing in August.

Her ban will be in place for two years from 5 May 2026, the date she was provisionally suspended.

Barbosu and World Gymnastics are also involved in a separate case with Cas relating to the medal she won in Paris.

The US team requested an inquiry into Jordan Chiles’ score in the final, which resulted in the American claiming bronze in place of Barbosu.

Cas then upheld a complaint from the Romanian Olympic Committee that Chiles’ team took too long to make the request, resulting in Barbosu’s bronze being reinstated.

The case is still ongoing but the next hearing will not take place before May 2027.
