Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been in the news after he defended his coaching hires this week. Former NFL star Emmanuel Acho called out the Cowboys owner for his comments.
During a segment of the “Speakeasy” podcast, Acho claimed that Jones is the reason for the Cowboys’ failures in the wake of the Cowboys owner’s controversial comments.
Thanks for the submission!
“Jerry Jones has been on the stand for being the reason why the Cowboys cannot win, and today, by his own remarks, he should be convicted, guilty as charged for the reason why the Cowboys can’t win,” Acho said. “If Jerry is saying how much you pay a head coach has no bearing on winning, then Jerry is omitting the greatest statistic that has a bearing on winning.”

The comment that set him off came during Jones’s weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan, where he said paying coaches has “zero correlation” to winning.
However, Acho outlined the contracts of some of the biggest coaching names in the league like Andy Reid, John Harbaugh, Sean Payton, Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan and the success they have brought the team.
“There is no greater correlation with winning than how much you pay your head coach and will he yield a Super Bowl,” Acho said.
Brian Schottenheimer is 10-14-1 as Cowboys coach in his second season. The Athletic put his annual pay between $5 million and $8 million, among the lowest in the league.
Jerry Jones defended Cowboys coach amid scrutiny after Cardinals loss
Jerry Jones’s remarks followed a 33-30 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals at AT&T Stadium in Week 8. The Cowboys led 24-10 early in the fourth quarter, then gave up touchdowns on four consecutive Arizona possessions.
Chad Ryland missed an extra point with six seconds left in regulation that would have won it for Arizona, then made a 42-yard field goal in overtime. However, Jones downplayed the questions around the coaching change.
“That’s not in my mind at this time,” Jones said. “A lot of people let Brian down today and so for whatever criticism we want to have of Brian, we can all get in line.”
Acho’s argument gets its next test Sunday, when Dallas visits the 2-6 Indianapolis Colts.
