Destination: Paris, France
Month: January
What I love: A post-Christmas city escape is the best remedy for any January back-to-school blues—even better if I can opt for the Eurostar. This sprawling flat in the French capital—which sleeps up to 10—makes me think of Paris’s années folles and the grandiose homes that housed the city’s most hankered-for parties. It’s located minutes from the romantic Monceau Park (a Claude Monet favorite, for those visiting for the art) and the Champs-Elysées, so we’d be walking distance or a quick taxi ride away from some of the city’s top restaurants, cafés, and attractions.

The space itself is the epitome of resplendence and irrefutably Parisian: tall windows overlook a picture-perfect street, the floors are tasteful parquet wood—with some marble—and the walls and ceilings are all frescoes, old world cornice, and gold plating. The antique chandeliers and artwork are juxtaposed with contemporary furniture, which bizarrely works from a design perspective; the bathrooms (there are three, two of which are en suite) are marble on marble and perfect for getting ready for a night on the town.

Four expansive bedrooms each feature a queen-sized bed and television (which you likely won’t be turning on, unless it’s to watch an old French film), the kitchen is stocked with everything from a coffee maker to cookware, and the living area is light-flooded as can be and open-plan, making it ideal for a group hang. The building also boasts a quiet courtyard. Worth noting that this flat is owned by two born-and-raised in Paris Superhosts with rave reviews, so you’ll be in the best of hands should you need anything.
