Glamorgan batter Asa Tribe has been barred from joining the England Lions squad in the West Indies because of a recent trip to Kenya.

Tribe played three one-day matches for Jersey in Nairobi in late October, lining up against Kuwait and Papua New Guinea, as well as against the hosts.

He was then due to join the England Lions squad for a series of T20 and one-day matches against West Indies A.

But fears over an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Kenya led to Tribe not being admitted to Saint Kitts & Nevis, which is hosting all the games.

“Saint Kitts & Nevis currently have a 21-day non-entry rule in place for non-nationals who have been in Kenya due to the Ebola in Kenya and seven other countries in Africa,” a spokesperson for the England and Wales Cricket Board told BBC Sport Wales.

“Asa is back in the UK, and we are in touch with the relevant authorities.”

England Lions won the first T20 clash by eight wickets on Sunday after bowling West Indies A out for 98, with Naavya Sharma taking four wickets and Scott Currie three.

Captain Thomas Rew hit 50 not out as the tourists reached 101-2 in just 10.1 overs.
