Darby Allin is the reigning AEW TNT Champion. He is one of the most popular stars in the company, and he is currently allied with Sting’s son, Steven Borden. Both wrestlers participated in this year’s men’s Blood & Guts match, but things didn’t end well for the Daredevil.
The Don Callis Family (Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, Wardlow, Kevin Knight, Mark Davis, and Jake Doyle, with Don Callis) defeated Will Ospreay, Adam Copeland, Darby Allin, Steven Borden, and the Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) via surrender at Blood & Guts. Fletcher was not done after this triumph, as he wanted to inflict more pain on his opponents. The Protostar instructed Wardlow to throw Darby from the top of the Blood & Guts cage. The Don Callis Family member eventually did as he was told, and the Invisible Man crashed into several tables stacked on top of each other.
The Wardlow-Darby spot was shocking and one of the most hardcore moments in the company’s history. Every wrestler involved in the match brought their A game. Thankfully, WON’s Bryan Alvarez revealed that none of them suffered serious injuries. Officials were only concerned about Darby’s tooth since his own knee hit it.
“It appears everyone in both Blood and Guts matches are OK. There was concern about Darby’s tooth after, of all things, his own knee hit his face on a Michinoku driver bump, but turned out he was OK,” he said.
Darby Allin on his goal in AEW
Darby Allin has been with All Elite Wrestling since the company’s inception in 2019. In a recent interview with 1010XL’s Trent Osborne, he said that he wants to inspire the next generation of professional wrestlers.
“So yeah, it’s incredible. So that’s my whole goal with AEW is just inspire the next generation of wrestlers just to bring it every single night. There’s never an off night because it is a blessing what we have in front of us,” he said. [H/T: Fightful]
Darby is a former AEW World Champion and could win this gold again. Only time will tell what the future holds for him.
