Ollie Cooper is set to leave Swansea City with the Wales midfielder expected to join a League One club on a season-long loan.

Swans head coach Vitor Matos revealed that an agreement is in place with a club to sign Cooper, though the deal is not yet finalised.

The 26-year-old academy product has played 118 first-team games for Swansea and scored nine goals.

But he made only one substitute appearance under Matos in 2025-26 after a season-long loan at Wigan Athletic was cut short in January.

Cooper was allowed to leave last September having struggled for game time under former boss Alan Sheehan but managed only 13 appearances for Wigan.

“He’s at an age where he needs to play,” said Matos.

“There’s an agreement between clubs for a loan but it’s still not confirmed, so when it is confirmed we will speak about it.”

A move could signal the end of Cooper’s time at Swansea given that his contract at the Championship club expires next summer.

He was not involved as Matos’ team beat Spanish side Leganes in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Cooper, who joined the Swans as an 11-year-old, is poised to follow fellow former academy players Liam Cullen and Sam Parker in leaving the club this summer.

Another Welsh player who has come through the ranks, Cameron Congreve, is also likely to depart, with the two-cap winger set to join Belgian club Westerlo for a seven-figure fee.
