Rabbi Matondo has joined Hibernian on a deal until the end of the season, with the option of a further year.

The Wales and former Rangers winger, 26, had been on trial at Easter Road and becomes new manager Marink Reedijk’s first signing since replacing David Gray in the dugout last month.

In August, Matondo left Norway’s Brann following a five-month spell. During his near four-year stint at Ibrox, he spent time on loan at Hannover. He has also featured for Schalke, Stoke City and Cercle Brugge.

Around two thirds of Matondo’s 70 Rangers appearances came in the Scottish Premiership and all but one of his eight goals were in the top flight, including one against Hibs.

The most recent of the winger’s 15 Wales appearances came last year and 2025 was also when he netted his only international goal so far in a 3-1 victory over Kazakhstan.

“He made an immediate impression during our time in La Manga and has shown a great attitude, strong application and a real willingness to learn and adapt,” said Reedijk of Hibs’ training camp during the international break.

“Rabbi gives us pace, directness and a real threat in wide areas, while also bringing a positive personality into the dressing room.

“He has settled in quickly and we are looking forward to working with him and seeing the impact he can make.”
