Halloween night is a special one for NBA players as they get to let their creativity speak through their costumes. While most players show off their costumes, some stand above the rest.

On Oct. 30, 2024, Pascal Siakam hit a 3-pointer with 6.1 seconds left in overtime to beat the Celtics 135-132. The next day, he posted a video of himself dressed as superstar rapper Andre 3000, complete with the signature bob wig, a pile of instruments and a lot of lip-syncing.

The Pacers didn’t even play on Halloween, so nobody asked him to do it, but he did it regardless because of the fun involved. Previously, Siakam had dressed up as 50 Cent in a bulletproof vest in 2022.

On Oct. 31, 2018, LeBron James arrived at Staples Center ahead of the Lakers’ 114-113 win over the Mavericks in Jason Voorhees’ hockey mask and gory makeup, holding an axe in the tunnel. Lakers reporter Mike Trudell joked that the horror character Jason looks more intimidating at 6-foot-8.

It was his first Halloween after joining the Lakers, and he scored 29 points with six assists and three steals in the win.

On Oct. 24, Karl-Anthony Towns became the Night King from “Game of Thrones” with heavy prosthetics, frostbite-style makeup and piercing blue eyes for a pre-Halloween night out. His wife, Jordyn Woods, matched the Knicks star as a White Walker. The couple debuted the looks at a restaurant on Prince Street in SoHo.

In 2021, Towns went as the Big Bad Wolf opposite Woods’ Little Red Riding Hood.

In 2022, Jordan Clarkson did his best work in dressing up for Halloween. He went as Edward Scissorhands and wore the costume over the weekend before Halloween. The Jazz’s local radio station agreed, noting that his Scissorhands look was his best of the week.

He also showed up on Halloween itself as Jack Skellington, but Scissorhands was the one that stuck.

On Oct. 30, 2023, Giannis Antetokounmpo arrived at Fiserv Forum in a full Hulk costume. He scored 33 points as the Bucks beat the Heat 122-114 in a rematch of the team that had knocked them out of the previous playoffs.

After the game, he walked into his postgame news conference still dressed as the Hulk, mask on and speaking in a deep voice. He stayed in character the whole time as his son sat there dressed as Spider-Man.

On Oct. 31, 2023, Victor Wembanyama walked into Phoenix’s Footprint Center as Slender Man, the thin, tall faceless horror character. That night, he scored 18 points with eight rebounds and four blocks and led the Spurs to a 115-114 win over the Suns.

The Spurs star took advantage of his height and slender figure to perfectly pull off his costume. It launched what fans would come to call a generational run of Halloween entrances.

On Oct. 31, 2019, JJ Redick turned into a Lego minifigure before the Pelicans hosted the Nuggets. It is still one of the league’s all-time Halloween costumes. It works because it’s simple and fully committed, with no explanation required.

Redick, then a sharpshooting Pelican, later became the Lakers’ head coach, which stripped him of the joy of dressing up for Halloween nights.

On Oct. 29, 2017, Steph Curry rolled in Oracle Arena on a red tricycle as Billy the Puppet, Jigsaw’s mechanical doll from Saw. The Warriors star set off the metal detectors on his way in.

Curry posted a two-minute video with the caption “Hello, I want to play a game.” The Warriors lost that night 115-107 to the Pistons, with Curry scoring 27 behind Klay Thompson’s 29 and Kevin Durant’s 28.

On Oct. 31, 2017, LeBron James showed up to a Halloween party as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, with his eyes blacked out and wearing face paint. The four-time NBA champion brought Stephen King’s character from the movie “It” to life, making him even more terrifying because of his build.

It is considered one of the best costumes James has worn on Halloween, surpassing his Beetlejuice and Jason Voorhees costumes.
