Canyon Ranch Lenox takes wellness seriously: This is a destination guests head to for a weekend (or week) of rest and relaxation. The adults-only wellness resort in the Berkshires is perched on 120 acres of wooded land just outside Lenox, and once you arrive, there’s little reason to leave. The property runs on a steady schedule of daily classes and treatments that guests can engage with as fully—or selectively—as they choose. The massive spa and fitness facilities (roughly 100,000 square feet) feature a continuous flow of offerings, avoiding the sense of scarcity you often feel at smaller destination spas. Schedules are organized around daily classes, workshops, demonstrations, and treatments. Some guests—many of them repeat visitors—arrive with a full schedule already mapped out; others keep their days largely open, moving between meals, classes, and downtime as they go. Meals and many activities are included, while treatments are added as needed or covered with daily resort credits. The main dining room serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, though you can also head to the Demo Kitchen, which operates as both a dining destination and a teaching space, hosting lunch-and-learn sessions and hands-on cooking classes. —Lauren Dana Ellman
Included in the rate: Unlimited meals and snacks, daily fitness classes and wellness lectures, a daily spa credit or treatments, and full access to the spa and pool complex; alcohol is reserved for special prearranged events, and the resort has a no-tipping policy.
Why we love it: The 100,000-square-foot spa sits inside a 19th-century mansion that was once a Jesuit seminary, and the programming pushes past pampering into real health coaching and fitness instruction. Guests can build a schedule around one-on-one consultations with nutritionists and trainers, so it’s less a spa weekend and more a genuine reset.
