Chelsea could make a renewed approach for Roma midfielder Manu Kone when the transfer window reopens this winter.

The Blues were keen on landing a new defensive midfielder after parting ways with Enzo Fernandez on deadline day.

Monaco’s Lamine Camara was the prime transfer target, but the French outfit pulled the plug on the deal at the final hurdle.

In between, Chelsea had talks with Roma regarding Kone, but the Giallorossi made it clear that the Frenchman was not for sale before the transfer deadline.

This has not necessarily ended the Blues’ interest and reports claim that a fresh approach could be made at the turn of the year.

Chelsea‘s relationship with Monaco has soured after the deadline day snub, and they are unlikely to return for Camara’s services.

Instead, they are looking at alternatives and are prepared to test Roma’s resolve on Kone when the transfer reopens in the New Year.

Roma have no desire to part ways with their prized asset, but could be tempted to do so for a significant transfer package.
