French striker wants to join Man Utd in January

Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has his sights on joining Manchester United this winter, according to talkSPORT.

The Frenchman has been plagued by a hamstring injury this term, but he has a clear stance on his future ahead of the New Year.

Mateta has already declined a new deal beyond June 2027, and he is prepared to leave on a free transfer if a winter exit is not sorted.

Palace are willing to consider a mid-season sale, and reports claim that Mateta would prefer a move to the Red Devils if an opportunity arises.

United have struggled to find a consistent striker this campaign.

Benjamin Sesko has been nursing a shin injury for some time, and he is presently on the sidelines for an extended period due to this.

Joshua Zirkzee has been a regular in matchday squads, but he has been restricted to substitute appearances during the ongoing season.

If Mateta were to join, it could coincide with Zirkzee’s exit.
