Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko could be on the sidelines for an extended period due to a recurring shin problem.

The Slovenian first sustained the setback against Liverpool in May, but he managed to return in time for the new campaign.

However, he has once again suffered a recurrence, and The Sun claim that United fear the centre-forward could be out for many months.

Sesko has not been spotted in training for weeks and there is an expectation that he may not play for United again until the New Year.

The news is a huge blow for the Mancunian giants, who are struggling in the final third with a lack of cutting edge in their finishing.

Regardless of Sesko’s fitness, United are likely to pursue a new striker when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

Crystal Palace‘s Jean-Philippe Mateta has opened the door for a transfer, but United are yet to decide whether to make an offer.
