Arsenal defender hugely doubtful to face Liverpool

Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori is reportedly a huge doubt for the Premier League clash against Liverpool on the road this weekend.

The Italian came on late as a substitute in the 2-0 league win over Everton last weekend. In the same game, he sustained a knock that saw him miss the Carabao Cup fourth-round loss at Fleetwood Town.

Manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged that he was injured after the game, and reports claim that he is facing a race against time to be fit for the visit to Anfield on Sunday.

Myles Lewis-Skelly got the nod to start at left-back against the Toffees, and he could feature in the same role. Piero Hincapie is another option for the Gunners this weekend.

Arsenal have had a dreadful record at Anfield over the years, with no league wins since 2012, and they face another stern challenge on Merseyside after a shock Fleetwood loss.

They have lacked the cutting edge in the final third lately and could face a difficult game at Anfield with Bukayo Saka ruled out due to a quadriceps injury.
