This week’s WWE SmackDown witnessed the spectacular return of Finn Balor in his Demon avatar, who confronted Gunther following his beatdown of Danhausen. A little while ago, on his X account, the former AEW star posted a picture of Balor from backstage, solidifying their alliance on the blue brand.
The Ring General was in carnage mode today when he brutalized not just Danhausen but also several Minihausens who appeared on SmackDown. However, just when it looked like the segment was on a downbeat note, the arena turned black and later red when it became clear what was transpiring. Out came Finn Balor in his Demon avatar to a huge ovation from the fans in attendance.
Thanks for the submission!
The two soon began brawling, with the Charlestown fans roaring in Balor’s support. In the end, Balor had the last laugh as he delivered a Coup de Grâce from the top of the ladder and onto the commentary box on The Ring General.
Following the Friday Night Show, Danhausen took to his social media to share a picture of himself and The Demon from backstage, making it clear that their alliance was not a one-off occurrence. Check out his post below:
“Very Demon, Very Evil,” he wrote.
Finn Balor and Gunther could have a singles match in WWE soon
Balor and Gunther are no strangers to each other, having competed in a one-on-one match back in July 2024. However, since then they’ve shared the ring only in multi-man matches, three of which happened in 2026.
Going by the escalating tensions in recent weeks and today’s events, it’s safe to assume we could be getting a marquee contest between the two very soon. It’s no secret that Finn Balor is far more dangerous as The Demon and enjoys a great win-loss record in the avatar.
However, Gunther is one man who could humble him, as his resume boasts of retiring heavyweights like Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles. Recent rumors have also suggested that they could collide as soon as Crown Jewel 2026 on November 7th. While there were fears that PLE could be canceled, it’s confirmed to be going ahead as planned, just at a different venue in Riyadh.
