A WWE star finally made her return after a 12-year long absence to a huge pop. The star recently made an appearance as a surprise opponent on this week’s episode of NXT. The star in question is none other than former Women’s World Tag Team Champion Paige.
Paige is one of the most legendary female stars in the history of NXT. She was the brand’s inaugural Women’s Champion and became a centerpiece of its women’s division during her time there. She moved up to the main roster after winning the Divas Championship in her debut match against AJ Lee at the RAW after WrestleMania 30.
Thanks for the submission!
Paige’s last match on NXT took place on the 12 June 2014 edition of the show where she teamed up with Emma and Bayley to face Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Summer Rae in a Six-Woman Tag Team match. She returned on this week’s NXT as a surprise opponent for Kelani Jordan. After an intense bout, the Anti-Diva came up short and wasn’t able to win the NXT Women’s Championship.
Fans loved to see Paige back in NXT for the first time in nearly 12 years. She is currently feuding with Nikki Bella on SmackDown.
Paige returned to WWE at WrestleMania 42
The Bella Twins were scheduled to compete in a Fatal 4-Way match for the Women’s World Tag Team titles at WrestleMania 42. The match featured the team of Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, the Irresistible Forces and Bayley & Lyra Valkyria. However, rumours about Nikki Bella not being allowed to compete started spreading across the internet.
At WrestleMania, the Bella Twins came out and Nikki Bella announced that the rumours were true and she won’t be able to compete in the scheduled match. However, she brought a replacement for herself, which was none other than Paige. She had left the WWE in 2022, ending her 11-year tenure with the company. She went to AEW and stayed there for nearly 3 years where she had several great matches.
The Anti-Diva won the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In: London 2023 in front of her home country crowd. Even in her return match in WWE, Paige captured the Women’s World Tag Team titles with Brie Bella.
