Sarah Chovnick sent a message to Caitlin Clark and Fever fans after Hoosier Democrat J.D. Ford won Indiana’s 5th Congressional District, upsetting three-term Republican U.S. Rep. Victoria Spartz.
“The Daily W” podcast host asked the community to apologize to Fever fans for stereotyping them as Republican supporters.
“For the last three seasons, it has sort of become a catch-all saying, Fever fans are MAGA,” she said.
“On Tuesday night, while the world was riding the blue tsunami, Indianapolis was actually the first area to really fall on the map… over 20 legislative seats in Indiana actually flipped from red to blue… we have given Fever fans a bad rep.”
Chovnick also took a shot at Sophie Cunningham by showing her picture on the screen when discussing the MAGA tag hanging around Fever fans. The podcaster clarified that she doesn’t credit Clark with the election results, as the Fever guard has not publicly addressed political matters or endorsed a politician.
WNBA legend makes bold claim about Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham’s looks
Angel McCoughtry made a bold claim about Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham’s looks in relation to their popularity. The WNBA legend said her piece on Thursday’s episode of the “Get to the Point” podcast. She made her point by recalling an incident where she tested the crowd’s knowledge about the Fever’s roster at a conference.
“Everybody loved Indiana; they love Caitlin Clark,” McCoughtry said. “I said, ‘How many of you know Kelsey Mitchell?’ None of them raised their hand. She’s the best player on that team.”
When asked if Clark’s popularity was related to her looks, McCoughtry remained silent; instead, she turned the discussion to Sophie Cunningham, pointing at her Adidas shoe deal.
“Yes, looks play a part. They play a big part,” she said.
The WNBA legend said that, according to her, there were players more deserving of an opportunity than Cunningham, who averaged 7.9 points last season.
Clark and Cunningham have emerged as the two faces of the Fever in the last two seasons. Kelsey Mitchell, however, surpassed both this season as Indiana’s best player, averaging 24.7 points per game last season and finishing third in the MVP race.
