Fans have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to hail Manchester United star Shea Lacey for his showing in their 3-2 comeback victory over AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United hosted Roma in their second home UCL fixture of the league phase at Old Trafford. The Red Devils came into the game winless in 9 and, unfortunately for them, looked the part in the first half. The team looked like they had no confidence at all while attacking and kept making silly errors.

Thanks for the submission!

Roma took the lead after Matias Soule controlled a cross-field ball and slotted it past Senne Lammens’ near post. Things went from bad to worse as they conceded a second goal minutes later.

A missed clearance from Harry Maguire fell at Soule’s feet who took a shot at goal. The ball hit Ayden Heaven’s hand, and the referee pointed to the spot. Donyell Malen calmly converted the penalty as he sent Lammens the wrong way.

Manchester United tried to get back into the game but couldn’t do much; they could manage only one shot on target in the first half, that too a tame effort from long-range by Kobbie Mainoo. The second half started on a sour note as Carlos Baleba was substituted after he appeared to pick up a hamstring injury.

Youri Tielemans came on, and things changed for the Red Devils. Bruno Fernandes got one back via a penalty after the Red Devils were handed a penalty after a foul on Cunha.

Fernandes missed his penalty on the first attempt but got lucky after Bryan Cristante was deemed to have encroached the box. The Portuguese star didn’t miss the second time and made it 2-1. With the crowd behind them, Manchester United grew into the game and started creating chances regularly.

The Red Devils equalized after an error from Leonardo Balerdi allowed Cunha to score their leveller. Cunha scored the third with a stunning strike from an unconventional angle as substitute Shea Lacey provided the assist. Brace hero Cunha was sent off as the Red Devils had to finish the game with 10 men.

The game ended without any more hiccups as Carrick secured his first win in 10 games. Fans praised Lacey for his impact off the bench. Some of the reactions are as follows:

What’s next for Manchester United after their win over Roma?

Manchester United have ended a 9-game winless streak after pulling off a stunning second-half comeback win over Roma. The win puts them 17th in the UCL league table after 4 games played with 6 points.

Next up for Carrick’s team is a home clash against Aston Villa this Sunday (November 8) in the PL. That game will be followed by a trip to Liverpool after the international break.
