Alex Michelsen vs Jiri Lehecka preview
Alex Michelsen will face off against Jiri Lehecka in the first round of the 2026 Paris Masters on Tuesday.
Michelsen enters the Paris Masters after reaching the second round of the Swiss Indoors Basel. He opened with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 win over Botic van de Zandschulp before suffering a narrow 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5) defeat to Arthur Fils. The American has had some encouraging results during the indoor hard-court swing, including a quarterfinal appearance at the European Open in Brussels, but will face a considerably tougher test against Lehecka.
Lehecka, meanwhile, arrives in Paris after an impressive run to the final of the Swiss Indoors Basel. The Czech defeated Jan-Lennard Struff 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 in the semifinals and recorded wins over several opponents during the tournament before losing to Valentin Vacherot 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the championship match. Lehecka has also enjoyed a strong run of results over the past month, making him a dangerous opponent on indoor hard courts.

Alex Michelsen vs Jiri Lehecka prediction
Lehecka comes into the match with stronger recent form after reaching the Basel final, where he defeated Stan Wawrinka, Daniel Altmaier, Jerome Kym and Jan-Lennard Struff before losing to Valentin Vacherot. His aggressive baseline game, powerful serve and ability to dictate rallies should make him difficult to handle on the indoor hard courts.
Michelsen has also been competitive, reaching the quarterfinals in Brussels and winning his opening match in Basel against Botic van de Zandschulp. However, he suffered back-to-back defeats to Arthur Fils in Brussels and Basel. While his serve and ability to take the ball early can trouble Lehecka, he may struggle to maintain that level against the Czech’s heavier groundstrokes.
The biggest concern for Lehecka will be fatigue after playing five matches in Basel, including Sunday’s final. Michelsen has had more time to recover and could take advantage of that, but Lehecka’s superior recent form and attacking quality should ultimately make the difference.
Pick: Lehecka to win in three sets.
