Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 is bringing several new maps and game modes to Multiplayer, giving you more locations to explore and different ways to play. The update includes two new maps, a redesigned version of Shoot House, and perhaps the most exciting addition is the return of some popular modes.

New maps in Modern Warfare 4 Season 1
Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 introduces three maps, along with a new Kill Block: Crash combination. The first new map is Backstab, a medium-sized 6v6 map set in a town that is damaged by war.
You will find abandoned tanks and damaged buildings throughout the area. The map has elevated locations such as the Stronghold House and Sniper House that can give you a great view to scout for enemies and even camp for long periods.
Next is Canyon, another medium-sized 6v6 map featuring a dry area surrounded by large rock formations. It includes several open areas and a river to give you a fresh change of visuals. You can also explore the northern cave and abandoned shack or move across higher platforms to get a better view of the map.
Shoot House is also returning in Season 1, featuring a redesigned look inspired by North Korea. The map keeps its familiar three-lane layout but comes with updated visuals and environmental details.
The update also introduces Kill Block: Crash, a featured combination that uses three fixed sections from the Kill Block system. Unlike regular Kill Block matches, these sections will remain the same between rounds.
As for the mid-season update, Ministry and Overflow are two confirmed maps. Ministry takes place around an embassy during a Global Peace Summit, while Overflow has a factory surrounded by farmland, with mobile rocket launchers operating in the distance.
New modes in Modern Warfare 4 Season 1
Season 1 also brings several Multiplayer modes, including Grind, Drop Zone, and Gauntlet 1v1. Each gives you a different experience from the usual Team Deathmatch and general matches.
In Grind, you must collect dog tags from eliminated opponents and deposit them at one of two banks to earn points. You can carry multiple tags at once, but you will drop everything you have collected if you get eliminated before depositing them.
Drop Zone is another returning mode where teams fight to control a rotating objective. While your team holds the area, periodic supply drops provide random Killstreak rewards that can help you during the match.
The update also brings Gauntlet 1v1, a limited-time Gunfight mode connected to the Wager Match Event. You face another player in a one-on-one match, with the winner moving on to fight another opponent. The mode uses event trophies, with rewards available for successful players.
Season 1 Reloaded will also introduce Counter Attack, where teams must attack enemy communication stations while defending their own. Another Team Deathmatch mode is also planned for the mid-season update, although its full rules have not been revealed.
