High-flying Bournemouth return to Premier League action on Saturday as they play host to Leeds United at the Vitality Stadium. While the visitors sit two points ahead in the table, they face a daunting test this weekend as they look to preserve that advantage against their rampant hosts.
Bournemouth’s new boss Marco Rose had big shoes to fill when he arrived in the summer as the successor to Andoni Iraola, who departed to join Liverpool. Two wins from eight games across all competitions were far from the start envisaged by the fans, but the German has since masterminded a stunning turnaround in fortunes, with the Cherries now firing on all cylinders.
Thanks for the submission!
Visiting a ground where they have enjoyed considerable success in recent years, Bournemouth continued that trend when they took on a struggling Manchester United side last weekend. Goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson secured a dominant 3-0 victory for the Cherries, who have now scored three or more goals in each of their last four visits to Old Trafford.
Rose’s men then repeated that scoreline during the week, dispatching Aston Villa to advance to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup. The result extended Bournemouth’s winning streak across all competitions to five matches, their longest such run since the 2021-22 campaign in the Championship.
Meanwhile, Leeds United opened their season with back-to-back victories over Nottingham Forest in the league and cup. However, despite their performances remaining convincing, results have since tailed off for Daniel Farke’s men.
The Whites were also on the road in the league last time out, visiting a Sunderland side who had lost their previous four Premier League outings in a row. However, Leeds failed to pile further misery on the Black Cats, with the evenly contested affair perhaps fittingly ending in a goalless draw.
Bournemouth vs Leeds United Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
- There was little to separate these two teams in the Premier League last season, with both meetings ending in 2-2 draws.
- No side has drawn more games in the Premier League this season than Leeds (five).
- Bournemouth have won their last four home games in a row after managing just one victory in their previous five.
- Only Arsenal (five) have conceded fewer goals in the league than Leeds (six).
Bournemouth vs Leeds United Prediction
While Leeds’ superior defensive record suggests they have a credible chance of securing a positive result in Dorset, the Cherries arrive at the weekend having won their last five games in a row by an aggregate score of 14-0, overcoming considerably stronger opposition than the Whites during that run.
It is difficult to look past a win for Marco Rose’s men.
Prediction: Bournemouth 1-0 Leeds United
