A well-known female veteran has just announced her AEW exit on social media. The star in question, Taya Valkyrie, has seemingly chosen to not extend her deal with the Tony Khan-led promotion.
La Wera Loca had arrived in All Elite Wrestling in March of 2023, confronting then-TBS Champion Jade Cargill on AEW Dynamite. Over the course of that year, she made unsuccessful attempts at capturing the TBS Title, and even competed against Toni Storm for the Women’s World Championship. However, the company did not feature the former Impact Knockouts Champion very prominently afterwards, and the latter ended up wrestling a combined total of 17 matches in the promotion through 2024 and 2025, after which she went missing from television.
Since 2024, Taya had also been making appearances in Ring of Honor, and in fact it was in ROH that the 43-year-old was last seen in action towards the beginning of this year. Around an hour ago, Valkyrie took to X/Twitter to reveal that she was now a free agent, as her AEW contract had expired and she had elected to not extend her deal with the company.
“Taya Valkyrie enters Free Agency after [All Elite Wrestling] exit. After much consideration and thorough discussions with her team Valkyrie has officially entered free agency having elected not to accept an offer to extend her contract with All Elite Wrestling..”
The post further included a note from the Canadian star herself:
“I am incredibly grateful for my time with [All Elite Wrestling] and the opportunity to be part of the organization. While there, I wrestled and worked alongside exceptional talent, and built lasting relationships within the AEW family and deepened my relationships in the wrestling community. I am beyond thankful to the fans for their continued support of me, not only in my time with [All Elite Wrestling] but also as I step into this new chapter as a free agent. I can’t wait for what’s to come and have a lot more to leave in the ring,” said Taya’s statement.
What was Taya Valkyrie’s last match in AEW?
The last time she was seen in action inside an All Elite Wrestling ring, Taya Valkyrie battled Tay Melo on the November 15, 2025 episode of Saturday Night Collision last year. The former AAA Reina de Reinas Champion suffered a squash at the hands of the Brazilian grappler, losing in just over two minutes.
Sportskeeda Wrestling wishes Taya Valkyrie the best in her upcoming endeavors.
