After an underwhelming 2026 season with the New York Yankees, Jazz Chisholm Jr. is now a free agent. The popular consensus seems to be that the Bronx Bombers will not look to re-sign him.
On Monday’s episode of the “Locked on Mets” podcast, pundit and content creator Ryan Finkelstein floated the idea of the Mets potentially signing Chisholm on a one-year, $30 million deal in the hope of helping him get back to his best.
“For the Mets, you are going to plug in a guy that’s more talented than most of this free agent class. He’s one of the better defensive second basemen in baseball,” Finkelstein argued.

Several fans disagreed with Finkelstein’s opinion, and many left comments making their opinion on Jazz Chisholm Jr. clear.
“I want nothing to do with Jazz Chisholm Jr.,” a fan wrote.
“I’d rather play with 8 guys in the field,” another fan commented.
“Absolutely not. He’s not a fit,” another fan replied.
“Terrible idea,” another fan responded.
“No at 10 million. 30 million? For Jazz Chisholm? Are you insane?” another fan shared.
“This has disaster written all over it,” another fan posted.
“I love it as a Yankee” – Jazz Chisholm Jr. says he would welcome a potential reunion with the Bronx Bombers
Effectively a free agent from the moment the New York Yankees were eliminated from the postseason by the Tampa Bay Rays, Jazz Chisholm Jr. told MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch that he would love to reunite with the Bronx Bombers if the opportunity presented itself.
“This is where I want to be,” Chisholm said. “I love it as a Yankee. I grew up as a Yankee fan, being from the Bahamas, watching Derek Jeter and those guys every day. It was a great time being a Yankee. I loved my time as a Yankee.
“I had great years with the Yankees; I had an All-Star year, had a Silver Slugger year. Who doesn’t want to stay with a team that you’ve had such great times with and great years with? To see it maybe end here sucks, but it’s part of the business.”
Chisholm ended the 2026 season with a .231 batting average, 19 home runs and 55 RBIs.
