Bradley Barcola has sent a clear message to Liverpool fans, urging them not to compare him to Mohamed Salah. He stated that the best is yet to come from him, and he is working hard to improve his level.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Barcola said that he was still developing and was nowhere near his best. He believes that the Liverpool players will start doing well once they understand each other’s game and said:
Thanks for the submission!
“No, I don’t think I’m at my best yet. You still haven’t seen the best version of me. On top of that, we’re working with my teammates so that they can make the most of my strengths. So yes, I think once we really develop that understanding, things will get much better. And I think things are improving all the time. People are beginning to understand my style of play much better. I think it’s going much better.”
He also sent a clear message to fans, saying he was not bothered about the fee paid for him, nor was he looking to emulate Mohamed Salah. He said:
“First of all, I wasn’t the one who decided the transfer fee. So that’s not been my problem. And regarding Mo Salah, he’s a legend here. A huge one. He’s done big things here and for that I have an enormous respect for him. But it’s not pressure for me at all. I’m not Mohamed Salah, so I’m going to try to contribute whatever I can to the club and make my own mark on its history. I don’t feel any pressure about that.”
Bradley Barcola was signed for €145 million by Liverpool, and he is yet to score in the Premier League. He has scored three goals in as many UEFA Champions League.
Liverpool legend did not see Bradley Barcola as Mohamed Salah replacement
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher spoke about the Reds’ move for Bradley Barcola in the summer, and was not happy about it. He claimed that the Frenchman was not the ideal player to replace Mohamed Salah and said:
“He’s a great player, there’s no doubt about that — I’d love to get Barcola at L’pool. But he’s a left winger for me. Right now, I felt this summer would be about replacing Mo Salah. Barcola doesn’t replace Mo Salah.”
Mohamed Salah left Liverpool in the summer, after cutting his contract short by a season, following a fallout with Arne Slot.
