“Jared Goff wins,” “Absolutely tore this in comparison”: NFL fans react to Lions QB rocking same Halloween costume as Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has made a strong start to the 2026 season. The Lions quarterback made another strong impression with his Halloween costume this week.

Jared and his wife, Christen, shared their Halloween costume inspired by 1998 football comedy movie, ‘The Waterboy.’ Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and his wife, Hailee Steinfeld had a similar costume for last year’s Halloween.

NFL fans reacted to the Lions quarterback’s similar Halloween costume to Allen’s.

“I’m gonna say they should’ve gone with April and Andy from Parks and Rec. But yes Goff absolutely tore this up in comparison,” wrote a fan.

“Jared Goff wins,” wrote another fan.

“Josh went all out though with the flag and his wife has the sign. Easy win for the Allens,” wrote another fan.

“Hailee fits this role perfectly. Cast her for the remake,” wrote a fan.

“The Waterboy energy is solid but that sign has me dying. What happened after she held that up for photos?” wrote a fan.

While Allen dressed as the title character Bobby Boucher, Steinfeld dressed up as Boucher’s love interest from the movie, Vicki Vallencourt. The Lions quarterback dressed as Boucher this year, while his wife resembled Vallencourt.

Jared Goff has helped Lions to strong start in 2026

Lions quarterback Jared Goff‘s strong start to the season has inserted him into MVP conversations over the last couple of weeks. He has thrown 14 touchdowns without an interception this season.

Lions coach Dan Campbell acknowledged the Pro Bowl quarterback’s stellar performances this season.

“He’s just playing at such a high level, continues to play at such a high level,” Campbell said. “It’s like, how do you not put it in his hands more than we are? I mean, how do you not?”

Goff’s strong performances have led the Lions to a 4-2 start to the season. His performances have been backed by the Lions offensive line as Goff has been sacked just 12 times this season.
