Here are some more reactions.
“The Colts have officially entered the ‘everything must go’ portion of the week,” a fan said.
“The Colts are going to trade what little talent they have before starting Anthony so that when they lose games they can claim they were right,” one fan commented.
“Colts are having a fire sale. At this point, I’d call and see what they want for their stadium @ChicagoBears,” another fan tweeted.
The report comes amid speculation that interim general manager Ed Dodds could listen to offers for multiple players following Chris Ballard’s dismissal. The Colts have also reportedly drawn trade interest in running back Jonathan Taylor.
Downs has recorded 26 receptions for 307 yards in seven games this season. He is in the final year of his rookie contract. The former third-round pick can be an appealing option for teams seeking help at wide receiver.
Josh Downs isn’t the only Colts player expected to be traded
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs could be among several players traded before the deadline as the franchise begins a potential roster overhaul.
NFL insider Adam Schefter expects the Colts to explore deals for Downs, defensive tackles DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart following Quenton Nelson’s trade to the Seattle Seahawks. Ian Rapoport also reported that Indianapolis has started its fire sale.
Indianapolis could receive less for Buckner than the third- and fifth-round picks it received for Nelson. Stewart has 22 tackles, while Buckner has 31 tackles and four sacks. All three players are in the final year of their contracts, giving the 2-5 Colts additional reasons to consider trade offers as they look to rebuild.
