“Let’s be very, very clear: Kevin O’Connell may be a big-time coach in the National Football League, because he’s widely respected, a quarterback whisperer and all this other stuff. Kevin O’Connell’s lucky he’s got a dam* job,” Smith said.

“You had Sam Darnold there, you had J.J. McCarthy there, now you got Kyler Murray there and we’re still saying ‘quarterback, quarterback, quarterback is the issue.’ I’m looking at Kevin O’Connell and I’m saying to myself, ‘Where’s the boy wonder at? Where’s the guy that’s supposed to elevate your level of play from the quarterback spot?’”

The Vikings have one of the least efficient offenses in the league under HC Kevin O’Connell in 2026
Although the Vikings are undefeated this season, they have one of the least efficient offenses in the league. The Vikings have scored just 10 offensive touchdowns this season, one of the lowest in the league.
While the offense has underwhelmed this season, the Vikings defense has allowed just 74 points through six games, the fewest in the league.
