NBA fans torched ESPN’s Tim MacMahon for his take on Luka Doncic and Cooper Flagg.
Flagg has picked up where he left off last season. Through five games played in the 2026-27 season, the Dallas Mavericks star forward is averaging 26.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.2 blocks. The former Duke star is gradually showing that he can be a franchise star.
Thanks for the submission!
Amid his performance, MacMahon gave a bold take on “The Hoop Collective Podcast” and said he wouldn’t trade Flagg for the LA Lakers star.

“I would not trade Cooper Flagg for Luka,” MacMahon said. “Just considering age, contract, all that kind of stuff. Flagg, I believe, right now, is a top 10 player.”
His co-host, Brian Windhorst, chimed in, saying he’d only trade Flagg for one player. MacMahon agreed, but they didn’t mention which player they’d trade the Mavericks star for.
However, Doncic’s fans were offended by the ESPN analyst’s take and torched him on X.
“Lakers wouldn’t do that trade either,” a fan said.
“Disrespect is just too much,” another fan commented.
“Good thing we don’t wanna trade Luka 😂,” one fan said.
More fans reacted to MacMahon.
“Who the hell, and why are they even talking about trading Cooper for Luka back to Dallas? The media is just finding s**t to talk about,” someone commented.
“I mean, you have to consider the fact that he is 19. I wouldn’t trade him for anyone other than Wemby,” a comment read.
“Does this weirdo know that he can praise a player without sneak dissing Luka?” one fan commented.
The Mavericks famously traded Luka Doncic to the Lakers in February 2025 after leading them to the 2024 NBA Finals. It remains one of the most shocking deals in sports history.
Cooper Flagg Trails Only Luka Doncic in a Specific Stat
Cooper Flagg has played 75 games in his career, and he’s still a teenager. On Friday, he helped the Mavericks to a 116-111 win over the Houston Rockets. Flagg posted 33 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals. It was his third consecutive game finishing with at least 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.
The only other teenager with a three-game run was Luka Doncic. The Slovenian star surprised the NBA during his rookie season. He averaged 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists in 72 games. Like Flagg, Doncic won Rookie of the Year.
But during his seven years in Dallas, Luka Doncic set a number of other records that Flagg must break.
