Cruz Montana made a huge statement on WWE RAW this week by officially joining 946, but his main-roster move won’t stop him from finishing his business in NXT.
Following Montana’s surprise appearance on the red brand, NXT General Manager Robert Stone took to X to address his immediate future. He confirmed that the previously announced unsanctioned match between Montana and Dion Lennox will still take place this Wednesday on NXT, with UFC star Michael Chandler serving as the special guest referee.
Thanks for the submission!
“Anything can happen at any time on any show in the @WWE. Congrats to @Montana_NYPR on the RAW debut, but the unsanctioned match vs. @DionLennoxWWE with @MikeChandlerMMA as the special enforcer will still go on this WEDNESDAY on @WWENXT,” Stone wrote.
Cruz Montana joined 946
As mentioned, Cruz Montana shocked fans during the closing moments of RAW in Brooklyn. A masked individual entered the ring during the chaotic confrontation between 946 and The Bloodline. He attacked Roman Reigns with a steel chair, then revealed himself as the group’s newest member.
The NXT Superstar helped 946 take control, and the faction eventually stood tall over The Bloodline. Sami Zayn also appeared and delivered a Helluva Kick to Reigns to close the show.
Shawn Michaels also celebrated Montana’s promotion, revealing that 19 NXT Superstars have moved to RAW and SmackDown over the past 12 months. However, he still has unfinished business with Lennox.
Their unsanctioned match is expected to be particularly physical, especially with Michael Chandler involved as the special enforcer. With Montana now aligned with 946, Wednesday’s NXT match could be his final appearance on the developmental brand, although WWE has yet to officially confirm that.
