Adding fire to the flames, some internet fans noticed that Matteo Berrettini no longer follows Lorenzo Musetti on Instagram, with the observation lending itself to speculation about a disagreement between the two tennis stars.
Matteo Berrettini’s shady ‘is this live?’ interview
Amidst the speculation surrounding Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Musetti’s relationship, a recent interview from the former has convinced fans that the duo isn’t on the best of terms.
Berrettini was recently seen in action at the Vienna Open, where he ousted Tomas Martin Etcheverry in straight sets to clinch a dominant win in his first round match. After his victory, the Italian was asked if Musetti’s title-finish at the Lyon Open last week served as inspiration for his own win. In response, the former World No. 6 seemed visibly annoyed at the question and he proceeded to ask if the interview was live.
When the interviewer confirmed that the interaction was indeed live, Berrettini took a few seconds to think of his next words, before finally answering,
“Ok. It’s okay. I know he worked really hard to come back and I guess he deserved it.”
For Musetti, his triumph at the Lyon Open marked the end of a four-year long title drought.
