WWE revealed the details of the first-ever John Cena Classic on last night’s RAW in Brooklyn, New York. Following the announcement, Maxxine Dupri’s real-life husband, Kam Hendrix, made a bold claim about the competition.
The John Cena Classic will take place on a special edition of RAW on December 14. ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, will host the much-awaited competition. On this week’s WWE RAW, Cena announced that main roster superstars will square off against NXT stars as part of the competition. Cody Rhodes was revealed as the first participant of the inaugural John Cena Classic last night. Meanwhile, Matt Cardona, who is currently injured, expressed his interest in competing for the title.
Taking to X, Kam Hendrix, who is known for his outrageous social media activity, made a eyebrow-raising claim about the competition. Showtime wrote that he could outclass anyone in the upcoming tournament.
“I’d cook anybody in the John Cena Classic 🤣,” Hendrix wrote.
You can view Hendrix’s post below.
Showtime is currently embroiled in a feud with Ek Prosper. He recently took issue with Prosper receiving an NXT North American Championship shot. Hendrix ended up costing the high-flyer a potential title victory.
At Halloween Havoc, Prosper, in disguise, brutally attacked Maxxine Dupri’s real-life husband to exact revenge. It will be interesting to see what’s next in the storyline.
Cody Rhodes Discussed His Absence From WWE Programming After Defeating John Cena at SummerSlam 2025
John Cena kicked off a feud with Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber 2025. The duo squared off in the main event of WrestleMania 41, with the fate of the Undisputed WWE Championship hanging in the balance. Cena ended up defeating Rhodes to capture the gold.
After months of feuding, Cena and Rhodes finally got the chance to settle their differences in a title match at SummerSlam 2025. The American Nightmare avenged his loss to the veteran by regaining the world title. Following the show, Rhodes went on hiatus from WWE programming.
On The Rich Eisen Show, Rhodes recently revealed that he was away from pro wrestling after last year’s SummerSlam due to Hollywood commitments.
“I was so lucky. I won the title from John Cena at MetLife for SummerSlam and then went and filmed without doing the usual wrestling, put him out, stretcher him out, he’s gone and then big return. It was just I think the world is all aware of what we’re doing now in terms of, ‘Oh, he’s going to film Street Fighter, he doesn’t need to do all that.’ And modern WWE, with its executive core and its, you know, Nick Khan and Triple H allowing it to go that way made it so you said day job didn’t have it very easy. Made it very easy. Other guys filled in while I was gone. I was able to come back and get right back into it.”
It will be interesting to see if Rhodes makes history by winning the upcoming tournament in December.
