Novak Djokovic vs Jan-Lennard Struff preview
Fourth seed Novak Djokovic will lock horns with Jan-Lennard Struff in the second round of the Swiss Indoors 2026.
Djokovic faced Ugo Humbert in the first round. The Serb was on the backfoot for most of the opening set. He eventually went down a break and couldn’t recover from the setback, thus costing him the opener.
Djokovic shrugged off the disappointment of the first set and played with a renewed focus for the rest of the match. He broke Humbert’s serve once in each of the next two sets to score a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback win.
Struff faced fellow German Yannick Hanfmann in the first round. The former ran circles around the latter from start to finish. Struff broke his compatriot’s serve once in each set, without dropping his own serve even once, to secure a routine 6-4, 6-3 win.

Novak Djokovic vs Jan-Lennard Struff prediction
Djokovic improved his record for the season to 20-8 with his comeback win over Humbert. He won his first title of the season at the China Open a few weeks ago, that too by beating three top 10 players in a row.
Struff didn’t even face a single break point during his comfortable win over Hanfmann. He finished as the runner-up to Tallon Griekspoor at last week’s European Open. He has a 21-20 record this year.
Djokovic won the Swiss Indoors on his debut in 2009. He came quite close to defending his title a year later but lost to Roger Federer in the final. He made the semifinals in 2011. He’s competing in Basel for the first time since then. Given his perfect 8-0 record against Struff, he will be expected to maintain his streak of reaching at least the semifinals in Basel.
Djokovic has won seven of his previous eight matches against Struff in straight sets. Seven of his eight victories were on hardcourts as well. Struff has pushed Djokovic to a tie-break only twice. The Serb’s dominance in this rivalry makes him the firm favorite to reach the Basel quarterfinals.
Pick: Novak Djokovic to win in straight sets.
