NBA fans erupted online after Draymond Green shared his thoughts on Luka Doncic‘s MVP case.
The LA Lakers star was short in the MVP race last season. Doncic finished fourth despite leading the league in scoring with 33.5 points per game. This season, the six-time All-Star is looking to win his first MVP after years of losing.
Thanks for the submission!
While Doncic has what it takes to win the award, the Golden State Warriors star thinks voter fatigue will play a massive role. On Monday’s episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” the veteran star shared his thoughts about the Lakers star’s MVP bid.

“Luka Doncic drops his first 50-ball of the season. And you ask yourself the question: Is he on an MVP mission this season? I think, yes. For sure, that’s his mindset, and he’s made that very clear,” Green said.
“I will tell you, I still don’t think there’s any chance that he’s gonna win MVP. The moment he has a few bad games or an injury that costs him a couple of games, people are gonna flip back on him. That’s just my opinion. I think people get bored with greatness… I think they’re gonna stay bored with it.”
After Green spoke about Doncic, fans blew up online.
“Steph deserves a better teammate,” a fan said.
“Same thing happened with Kobe,” another fan commented.
“Just like AD with DPOY,” one fan said.
More fans reacted to the Warriors star.
“Voters being sore losers, crazy that the Board isn’t seeing this bias. What’s the point of having the voting then?” someone commented.
“He’s unfortunately right; the media hates Luka now, thanks to Dallas trading him,” a comment read.
“He’s probably gonna win it this year if he stays healthy and the Lakers get a top 3 seed,” one fan commented.
Luka Doncic Wants to Win MVP, But Team Success Comes First
Luka Doncic has been in MVP conversations before. Unfortunately for the Slovenian star, he has often come up short. Before the 2026-27 season started, Doncic had an exclusive interview with California Post’s Melissa Rohlin and shared his desire to win MVP.
“It would definitely mean a lot,” Doncic said. “Obviously a championship, that’s what you play for every game. That’s what you train for every day. But obviously it would be nice to win the MVP also. Not everybody can say they have an MVP, so obviously that would be nice.”
After the first three games, Doncic picked up where he left off last season. He’s averaging 34.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.0 assists, leading to three straight wins. On Sunday against the Utah Jazz, Luka Doncic had 52 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds and two steals.
