On November 5, 2026, G2 Esports terminated its contract with professional League of Legends coach Luka “Perkz” Perković after the streamer shared a controversial 2,676-word “tweet bomb” posted on X. Since the post, Luka has deactivated his X account, but screenshots of his thoughts went viral. The post covered multiple topics, including his father’s death, marriage, G2, and more.
The most controversial part of his post centered around Perkz’s religious beliefs. He revealed that he had developed a closer relationship with God in recent years and identified as a practising Catholic. While discussing this, he mentioned abortion, saying:
“The only thing that is unshakeable for me […] is abortion; I cannot comprehend how people do not understand that it is murder, as life is created at conception.”
He also attempted to clear up past narratives, denying support for Andrew and Tristan Tate (admitting that liking their memes in 2022 was a mistake) and defending his past ties to Carlos Rodríguez. Here’s what he said about the Tates:
“I don’t like, support, or stand with the Tates. I hate most of the things they say.”
About Carlos Rodríguez, who faced significant backlash for associating with the Tates, he said:
“Carlos believed in me when nobody else did… And while he might’ve been an *** to some of the people working with him or for him, he was nothing but supportive towards me.”
Further, Perkz commented about the Israel-Palestine conflict, saying:
“I do not support war nor want to see people die. I’m obviously not pro-Israel and the genocide happening in Palestine.”
He also commented about his G2 team, saying he “came into a broken and dysfunctional” group:
“I came into a broken and dysfunctional team, with a lot of trauma and trust issues.”
Soon after his comments went viral, Alban Dechelotte, G2’s CEO, issued an official statement, mentioning Perkz’s controversial statements, while announcing that the coach would no longer be part of the organization:
“Last night, like many of you, we saw the statement shared by the Head Coach of one of our teams. G2 is a diverse and international organization with different people from all around the world. While the world is complex and not everyone agrees on everything, some of the statements made last night do not align with G2’s stance and values… We acknowledge that this statement hurt many of our fans, and we want to apologize for it… As a result, we have decided to terminate our collaboration with the individual.”
Sjokz shares her thoughts on Perkz’s controversial comments
Popular Belgian League of Legends esports host, television presenter, and reporter, Sjokz responded to the Perkz drama, saying people “should know” where she stands:
“Currently, in our community, you should know where I stand, you know where I stand, and I just don’t always have the mental health, and at this point in time my mental health is hanging on by the smallest of threads, the smallest of threads to fight continuously super hard for the things that I want to fight for, especially not when I’m covering, or I’m doing this really important job.”
In other news, Sjokz shut down an “incel loser” for saying she “doesn’t belong” in the gaming community.
