WWE is set to host three premium live events before the company enters a new year to kick off the Road to WrestleMania. Meanwhile, an injured star provided an update on who hasn’t competed in the ring since August 2025.
On August 22, 2025, Piper Niven scored a singles victory over Charlotte Flair on an episode of Friday Night SmackDown. The former WWE Women’s Champion suffered a neck injury and ultimately underwent surgery for it. However, the road to recovery has been long, and Niven hasn’t returned to the ring.
Thanks for the submission!
Earlier this year, she underwent a successful neck fusion surgery and has been providing an update from time to time. A fan recently asked her how she’s been doing, and Niven provided an update. The former Duodrop posted a picture on X and said she’s recovering in the shadows.
“The tribulations continue but so do I. 👹 Mother requires the solace of the shadows to recover. 🫶🏻,” Niven tweeted.
The 35-year-old star seems to be doing well, and only time will tell when she can clear to return to in-ring competition.
Piper Niven is a former WWE champion
After a few years on NXT UK, Piper Niven was moved to WWE’s main roster under Vince McMahon’s regime. The Scottish star paired up with Eva Marie, becoming Duodrop. The new name stuck for a while before it was changed under Triple H’s creative regime.
Piper Niven captured the 24/7 Championship twice, but the highlight was her run in the women’s tag team division with Chelsea Green. The two were the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions for over 120 days before they lost it to Kayden Carter and Katana Chance.
In the coming months, Niven helped The Hot Mess form The Green Regime when Alba Fyre joined them. However, Fyre was released, and Niven got sidelined with a neck issue. Chelsea Green is ruling the blue brand right now, but Piper Niven has yet to win a women’s singles championship in the promotion.
Moreover, Green still sees Niven as her Slaygent P, and the company hasn’t fired or released the 35-year-old star while she’s recovering. It’ll be interesting to see when Piper Niven returns to the weekly product.
