Team India’s ace batter Virat Kohli congratulated football star Harry Kane following the latter’s 2026 Ballon d’Or win. He became the first English player to win the coveted award since 2001.
Kohli began his heartfelt note by addressing Kane as a friend. He remarked that the 33-year-old thoroughly deserved the award for his honesty and hard work. Expressing his happiness for Kane, the former India skipper wrote on X:
“Harry my friend, you deserve every bit of this award for your resilience, hard work and honesty with which you’ve carried yourself through all these years playing football at the top. Really happy for you. God bless you and your family. They must all be very proud of you as you would be of your own journey. My best wishes always. Congratulations 👏❤️.”
Kane beat Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or. The England captain scored 73 goals across club and country appearances in the 2025-26 season.
