Wales team announcement LIVE: Steve Tandy names side for Barbarians clash

Wales coaches Steve Tandy and Sean Lynn will name their sides later today to face the Barbarians in London on Saturday.

This weekend sees Wales’ national teams take on the Baa-Baas in a double-header at the Allianz Stadium. Tandy’s men take on the famous club at 2pm, before Lynn’s women play at 5pm.

For Tandy in particular, the uncapped match with the Barbarians will act as an important piece of preparation ahead of a busy summer.

Following Saturday’s match, Wales take on Fiji, Argentina and South Africa in the maiden Nations Championship next month – playing in three different continents across successive weekends.

With a testing summer fixture list ahead, Tandy will be hoping to see some more signs of improvement – having ended the Six Nations with a crucial victory over Italy for Wales’ first win in the tournament since 2023.

Having named an extended squad for the summer, it’ll be interesting to see whether Tandy names a near full-strength side to build momentum or try some fringe players to see if they can force their way into a slimmed-down squad for the remainder of the Test window.

While not a capped match, there could be some debuts – with Rhys Barratt and Harrison Keddie just two new faces who could feature in TW1.

Tandy will whittle down his squad after the clash with the Barbarians.

Both sides will be named later today, with Tandy then facing the media this afternoon.
