A former WWE official has shared his criticism of Darby Allin’s latest high-risk spot from AEW Blood and Guts 2026. The reigning TNT Champion was tossed off the top of the steel cage in which the titular bout was contested in the closing moments of the show.
This Wednesday on AEW Dynamite: Blood and Guts, Darby Allin teamed with Steven Borden, Adam Copeland, Will Ospreay and the Young Bucks to battle the Don Callis Family’s Kyle Fletcher, Kevin Knight, Kazuchika Okada, Mark Davis, Jake Doyle and Wardlow. Even though the villainous stable had won the brutal steel cage war by forcing Cope to surrender on behalf of his team, the Protostar afterwards asked Mr. Mayhem to launch Darby from the top of the cage where they had been fighting.
As prompted, Wardlow sent the TNT Champion crashing through a set of tables that had been stacked up at ringside. In a recent X/Twitter rant, former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas claimed that audiences in attendance at AEW Dynamite did not react very intensely to Allin’s Blood and Guts steel cage bump on Wednesday. He argued that this was because fans had gotten desensitized to the daredevil’s high-risk spots, leaving them unfazed by his latest stunt.
“The fact is Darby Allin has committed so many of these crazy stunts that he has completely desensitized his audience to what he does now. He doesn’t get a desire, he doesn’t get the holy reaction anymore. He gets the, oh, he went through another table. That’s exactly what happened. The crowd just doesn’t care anymore because they expect it from him… People don’t care anymore because they’ve seen it too often and they’ve seen it too much from Darby Allin. He needs to change it up.”
Korderas also claimed that many of the promotion’s “day one” talent had stagnated vis-a-vis their characters and presentations, which in turn supposedly affected the company’s live attendance figures.
“That’s the problem with a lot of wrestlers in AEW since day one. The guys that have been there since day one, the OG AEW guys, nothing has changed from their original presentation. From day one to seven years later, they have not evolved one bit. And that is hurting them immensely. And that could be one of the reasons why they are hurting in live attendance. Except for pay per views, of course. But as far as Darby Allen goes, that is why I believe this is hurting him.” [H/T- Ringside News]
Wardlow’s reaction to annihilating Darby Allin on AEW Dynamite
Even though the Don Callis Family had already won this year’s men’s Blood and Guts match against Will Ospreay’s team, Kyle Fletcher had instructed Wardlow to toss Darby Allin from the top of the steel cage structure anyways, and the latter had happily complied. The War Dog seemingly did not feel much remorse over his actions, as he took to Instagram the following day to post:
“Last night was a bloody good time 🩸🐺.” – Wardlow captioned his post.
It remains to be seen how Allin might exact vengeance on Wardlow for this Wednesday.
