WWE’s “Hardcore Female Wrestler” Possibly Revealed

Bully Ray has found the WWE star he thinks can become the women’s division’s answer to The Sandman. He had nothing but praise for her.

Blake Monroe = WWE’s Hardcore Female Star?

On Busted Open, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray explained what he sees in Blake Monroe, days after The Glamour beat Giulia in an October 23 Street Fight on SmackDown. Interestingly, this was not the only time Monroe has been involved in a hardcore-style contest.

Earlier this year, at NXT Vengeance Day, she beat Jaida Parker in another Street Fight. Monroe has also participated under similarly chaotic match stipulations throughout her wrestling career. Ray said:

“I have enjoyed Blake Monroe’s work since before she was Blake Monroe. And there’s just something about her when she does hardcore matches, when she does extreme matches, when she’s telling a story based in any type of match that is not a regular wrestling match. Blake Monroe, she’s a gorgeous woman. And then she goes and does all of this hardcore stuff. And to me, it just works. Like, no girl who is that hot should be able to do anything this violent. And I don’t think that they’ve even scratched the surface of what Blake Monroe could really do.” [H/T – Wrestling Inc.]

Bully Ray, a former ECW colleague of The Sandman, named the role he thinks Blake Monroe could own outright:

“Knowing what she’s done in the past, I’d love to see Blake evolve into something that WWE does not have at all, which is a hardcore female wrestler. I’m going to say something pretty outlandish, but tell me if you get my point or if you can see it. Blake Monroe is the female version of The Sandman.”

The comparison only lands if World Wrestling Entertainment surrounds Blake Monroe with opponents willing to take the same punishment, and Giulia has clearly done that. Monroe, though, is chasing a championship match: she recently told Busted Open she deserves one and named Chelsea Green as the target. Whether WWE leans into the hardcore lane, as suggested by Bully Ray, remains to be seen.
