Man Utd need to pay compensation to sign Eddie Howe

Manchester United would need to pay a sizeable compensation fee in order to appoint Eddie Howe as their new manager, according to journalist Lee Ryder.

The former Magpies boss has emerged as the frontrunner for the head coach role at United if they decide to part ways with Michael Carrick soon.

United are yet to dismiss Carrick from the helm, but reports claim that could be made official tomorrow following his meeting with the hierarchy.

If the Red Devils were to proceed to pursue Howe, it is reported that the Magpies would be due around £6m as compensation for the deal.

Howe walked out of a multi-year deal with the Tyneside outfit on mutual consent after he was not pleased with the club’s transfer decisions.

Hence, the Magpies are entitled to the compensation package, which must be settled before United can go forward and land Howe’s signature.

Howe is said to be keen on returning as a Premier League manager.
